Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct individualized in-home therapy sessions or facilitate group therapy within the community health clinic to address the specific needs of each child.

• Implement evidence-based strategies to minimize high-risk behaviors, such as self-injurious behavior (SIB) and physical aggression by teaching crucial skills like anger management, social skills, and emotional regulation techniques.
\n
• Enhance the decision-making abilities of both children and their caregivers, aiming to positively influence family dynamics and address behavioral challenges that may arise in domestic settings.
\n
• Engage in consistent collaboration with the Child Family Treatment Team and other specialists to create integrated treatment plans that prioritize the child's holistic development.
\n
• Maintain meticulous documentation of all therapeutic activities, including intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, in accordance with the specified timelines.
\n
• Participate in regular team meetings, offering insights and recommendations geared towards improving service delivery and client outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This position directly supports a diverse range of children aged 3-20 who experience developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our therapists are crucial in helping these children navigate social, emotional, and behavioral challenges, fostering their resilience and growth within both family and community contexts. The emphasis on bilingual services—particularly in Spanish and Portuguese—enables us to reach broader segments of our community.

Qualifications\n

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field is required.
\n
• Current and unrestricted LMFT license in Connecticut is mandatory.
\n
• Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours a week during after-school hours, preferably between 4-7 PM, with some weekend flexibility appreciated.
\n
• Experience with positive behavior support strategies is necessary.
\n
• Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a registered vehicle for travel to clients’ homes when required.
\n
• All candidates must successfully pass a criminal background check including fingerprinting.
\n

Preferred Experience\n

We highly value applicants who have demonstrated experience working with children who have intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Familiarity with evidence-based practices in family therapy as well as a track record of developing effective therapeutic relationships with children and families will be advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits\n
