We are looking for an Accounting Analyst to join a growing accountancy organization in a permanent role. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who enjoys combining accounting work, data analysis, and client support in a fast-paced office environment. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to municipal tax-related operations while preparing reports, resolving account issues, and supporting leadership with accurate financial information.

Responsibilities:
• Accurately record and apply taxpayer payments within the organization’s tax administration system while maintaining complete and reliable account data.
• Respond to inquiries from property owners, district contacts, and other stakeholders by providing clear information related to tax accounts and payment activity.
• Prepare financial reports, account reviews, and tax collection summaries for internal leadership and external district clients.
• Analyze high-volume datasets across multiple districts and zones using Excel to identify trends, verify records, and support reporting needs.
• Reconcile bank activity, research discrepancies, and help ensure transactions are properly reflected in financial records.
• Review accounts payable activity and confirm that payments have been correctly processed, posted, and documented.
• Support accounting operations through QuickBooks, including maintaining records and assisting with day-to-day financial tasks.
• Develop presentation materials and attend board meetings as needed to share collection updates, account activity, and financial information with stakeholders.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to assist during periods of increased workload and provide operational support where needed.• 5+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, tax administration, banking, municipal services, or a related financial environment.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to use formulas, perform lookups, and work effectively with large datasets.
• Practical experience with QuickBooks and general accounting processes.
• Background in bank reconciliations, account analysis, and accounts payable review.
• Ability to create reports and presentation materials and confidently communicate information to clients or board-level audiences.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills in an office setting that requires attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work fully onsite Monday through Friday in Houston, Texas, with occasional evening meeting attendance.
