About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead its fundraising efforts. The CDO will be responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive development plan that increases revenue, diversifies funding sources, and deepens donor engagement. This senior executive will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders to foster a culture of philanthropy and ensure the organization has the necessary resources to fulfill its mission of granting life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses. The role involves overseeing a multi-channel fundraising program and a team of approximately 19 members, and the ideal candidate will have a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising, particularly in the Metro New York City area. Candidates for the CDO position should have a passion for the organization's mission and a strong commitment to ethical, donor-centered fundraising practices. A minimum of 15 years' of nonprofit fundraising experience, with a focus on major gifts, individual giving, and corporate partnerships, is required. The successful candidate will be adept at cultivating and stewarding donor relationships, managing a high-performing team, and operating within a complex, federated structure. Strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential. The CDO will be expected to travel and attend various events as needed, and a Bachelor's degree is required, with an advanced degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
