Make an impact each day supporting a middle school student as a Sign Language Interpreter in a welcoming educational setting near Round Lake, IL. In this contract position, you’ll play a vital role facilitating communication and full participation for a student with some residual hearing, fostering both their academic and social growth.
Your mornings will start at 7:35 am alongside a supportive school team. This assignment emphasizes individual student support, giving you the opportunity to truly make a difference.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
- EIPA score of 3.4 or higher
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpreting skills
- Prior experience working with school-age children, preferably at the middle school level
- Ability to adjust communication strategies based on the student’s unique needs
- Reliable, punctual, and collaborative attitude
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for a middle school student during classroom instruction, school events, and daily interactions
- Collaborate with educational staff to ensure student inclusion and access to the curriculum
- Support student comprehension, both in academic and social contexts
- Assist in developing a communication-rich environment tailored to the student’s abilities
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professional standards at all times
