LITIGATION SECRETARY

Location: Oakland, CA (Hybrid) Compensation Hourly Rate: $47.00 - $54.00 per hour Comprehensive benefits package. Job Summary Our client is seeking an experienced Litigation Secretary to support a Managing Partner at a well-established plaintiff litigation firm in Oakland, California. This is a fast-paced position supporting a seasoned attorney who manages multiple high-priority litigation matters simultaneously. The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a deadline-driven environment, and has extensive experience supporting litigation attorneys. This is a hybrid position following the initial training period. During the first 1–2 months, employees are expected to work onsite full-time. Responsibilities Prepare, format, proofread, and file pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents. Generate and maintain Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities. Electronically file documents in California State and Federal Courts. Manage attorney calendars, court deadlines, hearings, and scheduling to ensure timely filings. Prepare correspondence, case summaries, charts, and other litigation support materials. Order, organize, and maintain case files, records, and legal documentation. Coordinate with attorneys and paralegals regarding case activity, court filings, and litigation deadlines. Attend meetings as needed to take notes and provide administrative support. Assist with overflow assignments and provide coverage for other litigation secretaries. Successfully manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional accuracy in a fast-paced legal environment. Qualifications Previous experience as a Litigation Secretary supporting litigation attorneys is required. Plaintiff-side asbestos litigation experience is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of litigation procedures and court filing requirements. Experience with California State and Federal Court electronic filing systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Best Authority, and document management systems. Excellent proofreading, word processing, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills. College degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
