Job Summary This position supports clinical staff and supervisors to promote patient care. Responsibilities include assisting patients with activities of daily living, monitoring and observation, transport, documentation, answering phones and doors, and performing other clerical duties as assigned. When assigned to the front desk, the role provides essential coverage of reception, patient registration, and medical record services under the direction of the appropriate supervisor or Director of Clinical Operations. Responsibilities Direct/Indirect patient care (70% of time): For inpatient services – making rounds, observing patients in seclusion or restraints, assisting with hygiene and meals, escorting to appointments, taking vital signs, obtaining and transporting specimens, assisting with laundry or personal belongings, managing assaultive situations, communicating observations to RN, and documenting rounds. For outpatient services – assisting with patient intake and discharge, and providing clerical support for medical records. Administrative support and patient registration (20% of time): Answer phones and doors, stock supplies, stamp charts, complete lab slips, make appointments, initiate paperwork, verify eligibility, obtain authorization codes, complete admission documents in Apex and Psych Consult, escort admissions to unit, assist nurses with patient valuables, support Officer of the Day, run emergency errands, and complete other clerical duties as assigned. Other duties (10% of time): Maintain cleanliness of emergency equipment and perform other tasks as assigned. Additional Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned. Work Environment Maintain neat, orderly, and clutter‑free work areas, including hallways. Dispose of litter and report broken equipment. Post flyers only in designated areas. Use and report on the Environment of Care Manual and safe conditions. Prevent damage or theft of physical environment and equipment. Required Qualifications High school graduation and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent attendance and reliability. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Physical/health screening, fingerprinting, and background check required. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in an acute care and/or psychiatric hospital setting. CNA certification. Current nursing student with an inpatient rotation. Flexibility in patient assignment, shift, and work assignment. Required Licenses/Certifications Active American Heart Association CPR certification. Completed CPI training within 6 months of hire.
