Job Title Travel & Support Claims Analyst – Assistant Associate Accounting Analyst (AAA) Job Overview The Associate Accounting Analyst (AAA) in the Support Payables Unit, Financial Management Division, leads and independently performs the more difficult duties required for maintaining the accounting and budgetary records. The incumbent utilizes the state accounting system, FI$Cal and CalATERS Global to make analytical decisions and recommendations on accounting practices. Salary $6,330.00 - $7,929.00 per month. New to State candidates are hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable. Responsibilities Lead, independently perform, and analyze complex accounting duties. Maintain accurate accounting and budgetary records. Apply professional accounting practices & procedures. Make analytical decisions and recommendations regarding accounting practices and principles used in state government. Work effectively with the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) and the California Automated Travel Expense Reimbursement System (CalATERS) Global. Qualifications In‑depth knowledge of the state’s accounting system. Good working knowledge of professional accounting practices and procedures. Strong analytical, interpersonal, writing, and communication skills. Ability to multi‑task, provide detail analysis, and deliver analytical solutions in a timely manner. Ability to plan, organize, establish work priorities, and ensure adherence to policies and procedures. Working Conditions The incumbent works indoors in a high‑rise building at the East End Complex by the State Capitol. Typical work includes prolonged sitting, using a computer, calculator, and telephone. The position may be eligible for up to three days of telework per week; a minimum of two days onsite per week is required.
