Senior Software Engineer, Platform

Salary: $92,500 - 209,500 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• We typically look for 4+ years of professional software development experience, with fewer years considered for advanced degree holders.
• We need proficiency in at least one object-oriented or systems programming language such as Java, C++, C#, or Go.
• We seek experience designing and delivering backend services, APIs, microservices, SDKs, or developer-focused platform capabilities.
• We value understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and secure software development practices.
• We look for experience with API design, integration, versioning, testing, source control, and troubleshooting in production.

• Preferred experience includes building highly available, scalable cloud services or platform products.
• Preferred experience includes RESTful APIs, containers, cloud-native deployment, observability, or service reliability engineering.
• Familiarity with database technologies and multi-tenant service design is a plus.
• Experience creating technical documentation, examples, or adoption guidance for other engineers is preferred.

• We design, build, test, and operate backend platform components, APIs, SDKs, and integration frameworks used by OCI services and customers.
• We own a defined platform area and evolve its contracts, versioning, and interoperability for secure, multi-tenant usage.
• We diagnose and resolve complex issues across a bounded set of distributed services, delivering compatibility-safe fixes and clear upgrade paths.
• We improve availability, performance, capacity, and operability through resilience patterns, monitoring, logging, and automation.
• We partner with engineers across OCI to understand consumer needs, review designs and code, and support adoption of platform capabilities.
• We create high-quality technical documentation, samples, and operational guidance for platform consumers.
• We participate in service support and continuous improvement, including incident investigation and root-cause follow-up.
