Director of Talent Development and Employee Engagement

The Director of Talent Development & Employee Engagement leads the strategy, design, and continuous improvement of enterprise learning and employee development initiatives that support employee growth, engagement, and organizational effectiveness across Ivy Tech Community College. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Talent Development & Employee Engagement, this role serves as a strategic partner to the Human Resource team, leaders, and stakeholders across the College, developing scalable, learner-centered experiences that support the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, professional development, leadership growth, retention, and career progression. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution to deliver impactful, scalable learning and engagement solutions across a statewide system.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:- Lead the design and continuous improvement of enterprise learning solutions across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, professional development, leadership growth, and career progression, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and employee needs.
- Oversee the administration and governance of the learning management system, including course publishing approvals, Workday Learning decisions, coordination of the statewide eLearning calendar, and resolution of user support cases to ensure efficient and effective delivery of learning
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of statewide & departmental e-learning solutions using Articulate and other authoring tools
- Champion a strengths-based and engagement-focused learning culture by integrating employee engagement and team effectiveness frameworks, including Gallup methodologies and CliftonStrengths, into organizational learning strategies and development initiatives.
- Direct the optimization of the organization's learning platforms and external partnerships, including the curation of scalable learning collections and development pathways, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and sustained user engagement.
- Collaborate with leaders, subject matter experts, and cross-functional stakeholders, including HR partners, to design and deliver high-impact, learner-centered development experiences.
- Collaborate on the development and execution of communication strategies that support employee development, engagement, learning initiatives, and departmental programs, ensuring clear, consistent, and timely messaging across the organization.
- Collaborate on the collection, management, and reporting of departmental and engagement data, translating data into actionable insights and training stakeholders on effective interpretation and use.
- Bachelor's degree in organizational design, Industrial Psychology, Education, Communications, Human Resource Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in learning and development, instructional design, facilitation, employee engagement, organizational development, or related areas.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, with demonstrated experience delivering dynamic learning experiences through instructor-led, virtual, and web-based delivery methods.
- Experience creating, maintaining, and administering learning materials within a learning management system (LMS), with Workday Learning experience preferred.
- Must be proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), OneDrive, SharePoint, Articulate, Canva, and emerging AI-enabled learning tools.
- Knowledge of employee engagement and team effectiveness principles, including Gallup engagement methodologies and CliftonStrengths frameworks preferred.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining quality, attention to detail, and adherence to timelines.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate initiatives across a dispersed campus system and matrixed organizational environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. Ability to commute between sites/campuses as needed.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to campuses across Indiana as needed for professional engagement.
