Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This school welcomes both travel and local candidates. If you’re an out-of-state educator, please note that Alabama teacher reciprocity takes about six weeks, so prompt action is essential. Local applicants will need to participate in an onsite interview.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Alabama Special Education Teacher Certification (or eligibility to secure reciprocity)
• Previous experience teaching or supporting students in self-contained special education settings
• Ability to adapt instruction and classroom management techniques to suit diverse learner needs
• Familiarity with IEP processes and collaborating with aides and other educators
• Strong communication skills to engage with students, families, and team members

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and group instruction to students in a self-contained setting, utilizing evidence-based strategies
• Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
• Supervise and collaboratively guide 1–2 classroom aides
• Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes students’ academic, social, and emotional growth
• Communicate regularly with parents and staff regarding student progress
