Location: 6825 University Ave, Middleton, WI

Status: Hourly non-exempt, represented, Full or Part time. Meat Clerk and Deli Clerk needed.

Supervision: No direct supervisory responsibility

About the Role: As a Clerk at one of our retail locations, you will be focused on providing the highest level of service possible to the Co-op's internal and external customers. Our Clerks work in one or more of our departments - front end (cashier), deli, cheese counter, juice/coffee bar, produce, meat/seafood, grocery, or general merchandise - which means you'll have the opportunity to learn a lot!

What You'll Do: You will work collaboratively with others in the department to ensure that the department is operating at its best and fully staffed. You'll provide customers with product and store information and assist them in finding what they need to make their shopping experience top-notch. Depending on what department you work in, you may also do the following:

• Perform deli, cheese counter, and juice bar duties (food prep, replenish hot/cold bar/coffee, stock, perform dishwashing)
• Perform meat/seafood counter duties and stock products
• Cull and stock produce
• Front, face and stock grocery products
• Accurately perform all cashier duties
• Clean the sales floor and backstock areas regularly to keep the workspace orderly and clean
• Fulfill all shift duties for the day
• Comply with Health Department Regulations and follow safe food handling practices
• Increase product knowledge
• Participate in quarterly inventory
• Greet and offer assistance to customers
• Treat people fairly, consistently and with respect
• Abide by all Co-op policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and other company documents
• Participate in required training and meetings
• Perform all other duties as assigned by a supervisor

Physical Requirements:

• Required frequently: Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, sitting and reaching.
• Repetitive hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder motions.
• Using hands or fingers to handle or feel.
• Specific vision ability: close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and adjust to focus.
• Ability to lift and move 60 lbs

Work Environment: Fast paced retail environment with food service equipment and coolers and in cold/hot working conditions (i.e. cooler or near heated surfaces). Other high to moderate noise including but not limited to computers, cash registers, paging, telephones, music and human voices.
