In this pivotal leadership role, you will oversee all accounting operations across a growing real estate portfolio, ensuring financial accuracy, strong internal controls, and compliance with GAAP and industry standards. What You'll Do As the Director of Accounting, you will: Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous development. Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Oversee consolidated financial statements across multiple properties and entities. Partner with Operations, Acquisitions, and Property Management teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives. Drive process improvements and optimize accounting systems to support company growth and scalability. Strengthen and monitor internal controls to protect company assets and maintain financial integrity. Analyze portfolio performance through variance analysis and key performance indicators. Manage critical accounting functions including reconciliations, journal entries, intercompany transactions, tenant billing, collections, vendor payments, and capital expenditures. What We're Looking For We're seeking a hands-on, solutions-oriented accounting professional who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional leadership skills. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities. Strong knowledge of GAAP, corporate taxation, internal controls, and cash management. Experience in real estate, REIT, self-storage, or property management accounting. Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities. Experience with property management and accounting software. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead through growth and change.
