Requirements
- Active California RN License required
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- ACLS required within 1 year of hire
- 2+ years of Med-Surg RN experience
- Strong assessment, critical-thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a critical access hospital setting
- Experience with medication administration and narcotic control
- Basic arrhythmia interpretation skills
- Blood transfusion experience
- Ability to supervise LVNs and non-professional staff
- Strong documentation and patient/family education skills
- Must be willing to assist other departments when needed
- Holiday coverage required
- Perform comprehensive and ongoing patient assessments
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care
- Administer medications and physician-ordered treatments safely
- Monitor patient conditions and report abnormal findings
- Document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient progress
- Provide patient and family education
- Initiate emergency/resuscitative measures according to protocol
- Maintain infection control and patient safety standards
- Monitor and interpret basic cardiac rhythms
- Coordinate patient transfers for procedures and diagnostic testing
- Administer blood transfusions according to hospital policy
- Supervise LVNs and support staff
- Maintain accurate and legally complete patient records
- Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team
