Senior Application Consultant - Laboratory Data Integration

Job Title: Senior Application Consultant – Laboratory Data Integration OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Application Consultant to support laboratory data exchange projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in software development, ETL processes, database management, and healthcare messaging standards. This role requires collaboration with technical owners, project managers, and end-users to ensure seamless development, testing, and implementation of laboratory data systems. Key Responsibilities Software Development & Maintenance Design, code, test, and implement application software for all systems owned by the Application Team.Develop, maintain, and enhance production support applications.Perform data analysis, data manipulation, and database operations including schema creation, tables, procedures, and permissions.Write technical and user documentation, including software conversions and test plans.Troubleshoot and resolve end-user technical issues. Laboratory Data Exchange Develop, test, promote, and monitor laboratory data exchanges to ensure accurate order and result reporting.Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to support data transport via web services.Monitor data exchange processes for accuracy and reliability.Support Universal Public Health Node functions, documenting existing programs and enabling pathway to new technologies. Collaboration & Documentation Work closely with application technical owners, project managers, and programmers to ensure clarity in technical design.Participate in business requirements sessions and joint application development sessions.Create and maintain program code documentation, technical documentation, and unit test plans. Testing & Release Management Design and implement testing plans to validate program logic and output.Troubleshoot defects, perform debugging, and ensure high-quality program delivery.Implement release management processes, coordinating with infrastructure staff for deployment across environments.Utilize iterative and Agile software development lifecycle methodologies. Required Skills & Experience 84+ months (7+ years) experience in:Application development, design, coding, testing, and implementation.ETL processes (Extract, Transform, Load).Healthcare messaging standards including HL7, CCD, and X12.Programming in Java and JavaScript.XML and JSON development and validation, including XML extensions.Oracle database development (schemas, tables, procedures, permissions).84 months experience in application testing, including design and implementation of test plans.36 months experience supporting public sector government IT projects.Experience documenting business requirements and creating technical documentation.Knowledge of software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and release management. QualificationsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to collaborate effectively across teams including project managers, technical owners, and end-users.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality, reliable software solutions.
