This position is for a Mid‑level or Senior Modeling and Simulation Engineer in the Boeing Space & Launch team. Locations: El Segundo, CA and Mesa, AZ . The role focuses on system analysis, creating models and simulations to support business needs and designing constellations for proprietary missions. The team works across the entire system development life cycle—concept development, requirements, design, integration, testing, and demonstration. You will participate in all phases, from ConOps development to integration, test, and operations. Position Responsibilities Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify life‑cycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluate customer and operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program interfaces. Perform analyses to optimize system architecture and overall system of systems configurations. Analyze affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, security, regulatory compliance, certification, and product assurance to select the preferred configuration. Develop and implement requirements‑management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management, and technology‑readiness assessment processes. Resolve cross‑functional technical issues. Interface with other system engineers to define and update measures of effectiveness for system‑level trades. Maintain system‑level budgets, allocate requirements, and characterize sensitivity to changes in system performance across subsystems. Use and/or develop software tools to schedule tasks and apportion resources at a constellation level for proliferated satellite systems. Use and/or develop tools to characterize system performance via capacity or availability analysis. Employ a system‑level mindset to create models of sufficient complexity to meet the situation. Use and/or develop tools to design and analyze communication systems, including link analysis, modulation, and coding. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate of Science from an accredited program in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry. Systems engineering experience involving system requirements, functional decomposition, allocation, integrated design, analysis, and verification. Experience with at least one high‑level software development language (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C++). Preferred Qualifications Level 3: 5 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education. Level 4: 9 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience simulating satellite digital communications systems and link effects. Experience simulating satellite orbital design and transforming satellite coordinates to reference frames. Proficiency in MATLAB or Python, and C++ or Java. Experience with MBSE, SysML, NoMagic Cameo, and creating models. Experience with customer requirements development, system requirements, and CONOPs development. Experience in digital communications systems design and analysis (link analysis, modulation, coding). Educational background in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering with a focus on satellite communications design. Drug Free Workplace Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace. Mid‑level (Level 3) pay range: $119,850 – $162,150 Senior (Level 4) pay range: $146,200 – $197,800 Payments are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, market and business considerations.
