Director of SEO & AI Search – Role Overview We’re one of the fastest‑growing digital marketing agencies in the country, and we’re hiring a Director of SEO & AI Search to own the evolution of our core service line. You'll have a real seat at the table, own outcomes, and work with a talented team and a diverse client portfolio of ambitious D2C brands. Responsibilities The way people find brands is changing faster than it ever has, and most agencies are scrambling to keep up. Own the evolution of our core SEO services and AI search. Lead a talented team of SEO managers; drive retention and results across a diverse client roster. Build new processes, capabilities, and revenue streams; fix what isn’t working and spot new opportunities. Hire, coach, and create a culture where high standards and psychological safety coexist; weekly one‑to‑one coaching sessions. Serve as senior voice on strategy calls, QBRs, and escalations; anticipate account risks and prepare plans. Develop full‑funnel SEO strategies (technical audits, content roadmaps, backlinking, digital PR) across Google, Bing, Amazon, and beyond. Manage the department P&L, capacity planning, tooling decisions, and sales pitches; run as a business unit. Lead GR0's point of view on generative engine optimization and stay ahead of platform shifts. Promote team members from within; never skip one‑to‑one sessions; SOPs the team actually uses. Elevate the department to become recognized as the standard for SEO in the age of AI. Qualifications 5+ years hands‑on SEO experience, including 2+ years managing people. Non‑negotiable agency experience; proven track record managing managers and leading high‑performing teams, including offshore talent. Ownership of a P&L and experience recovering at‑risk campaigns, recovering results, and closing new business. Strong technical SEO, content, and off‑site disciplines expertise. Financial acumen with P&L ownership experience; capacity planning and tooling decisions. Executive presence: comfortable on pitch calls, client calls, and conference stages. Genuine enthusiasm for AI’s role in search and for building new initiatives inside an agency or startup. Experience with D2C brands and performance marketing environments. Entrepreneurial background or history of launching new initiatives.
