Position Summary

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is seeking an  Associate Manager, Chapter Engagement to serve as a key ambassador between IIA Headquarters in Lake Mary, Florida, and our volunteer chapter leaders.

In this role, you will build strong relationships with chapter leaders through ongoing communication, consultative guidance, training, and mentoring—both virtually and in person. You will support chapters in developing and implementing strategies, programs, events, and initiatives that strengthen the member experience and contribute to membership recruitment, retention, and certification growth.

The Associate Manager will also collaborate across The IIA to help ensure chapters have the resources, information, and support they need to achieve their goals while remaining aligned with organizational priorities and The IIA's global strategic plan.

Work Arrangement

This is a  hybrid position based in Lake Mary, Florida . The role requires occasional travel for in-person chapter visits, meetings, events, and other chapter engagement activities.

What You'll Do

• Serve as a primary point of contact and trusted resource for assigned chapter leaders, providing ongoing guidance, support, and consultative assistance.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with chapter leaders, volunteers, and community partners to strengthen collaboration and engagement.
• Support chapters in developing and implementing strategies, programs, events, and initiatives aligned with The IIA's mission, standards, and organizational priorities.
• Partner with chapters to establish and achieve goals related to membership recruitment and retention, certification growth, and overall chapter development.
• Facilitate effective communication between IIA Headquarters and chapters, ensuring chapter leaders receive timely resources, updates, information, and organizational guidance.
• Provide mentoring and support to chapter leaders and volunteers to strengthen their effectiveness and overall chapter performance.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop training resources that support continuous learning and align with organizational goals.
• Organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and other development opportunities that equip chapter leaders and volunteers with the knowledge and resources to succeed.
• Collaborate with chapter leaders to coordinate and execute chapter events and initiatives.
• Set up and manage event registrations and utilize event management tools to support efficient event coordination.
• Ensure chapter events and initiatives align with The IIA's mission, values, and established objectives.
• Participate in occasional in-person chapter visits and meetings and prepare comprehensive meeting minutes as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and track key performance metrics related to chapter activities, events, initiatives, and volunteer involvement.
• Establish and support processes for gathering feedback from chapter leaders, volunteers, and members.
• Analyze chapter activity and feedback to identify trends, strengths, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
• Prepare regular reports and provide insights that support chapter engagement strategies and organizational decision-making.
• Collaborate across The IIA to strengthen the overall member experience and advance organizational goals aligned with the global strategic plan.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications

• Experience in nonprofit, association, community, member, volunteer, or stakeholder engagement.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and volunteer leaders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities and initiatives.
• Ability to provide consultative guidance, support, and mentoring to volunteer leaders.
• Ability to effectively coordinate events, meetings, training sessions, and chapter initiatives.
• Proficiency with software and tools used for data management, tracking, and reporting.
• Ability to maintain accurate records, monitor performance metrics, collect feedback, and identify meaningful trends.
• Ability and willingness to travel occasionally for chapter visits, meetings, events, and other engagement activities.
• Ability to develop a foundational understanding of internal audit principles and the evolving needs of the profession after joining The IIA.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, community development, business, communications, or a related field.
• Association management or not-for-profit experience.
• Knowledge of nonprofit governance, volunteer management, and chapter development best practices.
• Experience supporting membership recruitment, retention, or engagement initiatives.
• Experience developing or coordinating training and development resources for volunteers or member communities.
• Experience with event management platforms, particularly  Cvent .
