External engagement is a key aspect of the role, including cultivating relationships with state education agency leaders, district partners, and program staff, as well as representing the organization with state-level stakeholders. Applicants for the Managing Director role should have a minimum of 8-10 years' of professional experience, with a strong preference for those who have led work within a State Education Agency or a large, high-performing district or regional education organization. The role requires a proven track record in managing large-scale programs, building trust with diverse leaders, and driving the implementation of complex initiatives that result in measurable improvements.
