Senior Communications Manager

We're partnering with a mission-driven foundation to hire a hands-on Senior Communications Manager to lead its communications function. This role is ideal for a well-rounded communications professional who can balance strategy with day-to-day execution, with a strong focus on leading website and social media initiatives while also supporting PR, marketing, content, and internal communications.

What You'll Do:

• Lead the Foundation's communications strategy while remaining actively involved in day-to-day execution
• Own website content strategy, digital communications, and social media initiatives
• Develop integrated communications plans aligned with organizational priorities and the Foundation's mission
• Advise executive leadership on messaging, positioning, reputational considerations, and sensitive communications
• Oversee content across newsletters, reports, presentations, social media, digital platforms, print materials, and institutional communications
• Lead public relations efforts, including press releases, media materials, external messaging, and media inquiries
• Identify opportunities to elevate the Foundation's visibility and support leadership with interviews, presentations, and public appearances
• Partner with program teams and affiliated entities to translate complex information into clear, accessible communications
• Maintain consistency across the Foundation's voice, messaging, identity, and communications standards
• Use website, social media, and engagement metrics to guide future communications efforts
• Manage communications projects, timelines, approvals, platforms, vendors, consultants, and external resources
• Supervise one Communications Specialist

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience across communications, public relations, digital communications, content, and/or marketing
• Well-rounded, hands-on communications experience with the ability to move comfortably between strategy and execution
• Strong website content and social media experience required
• Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and verbal communication skills
• Experience advising senior leadership and handling sensitive, confidential, or high-profile communications
• Previous experience supervising staff and managing consultants, agencies, vendors, or cross-functional communications projects
• Strong organizational, project management, and relationship-building skills
• Knowledge of the Los Angeles area and its communities is a plus
• Foundation experience is strongly preferred; nonprofit, public-sector, or broader mission-driven experience is also valuable
• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field—or an equivalent combination of education and experience
