The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Hudsonville that are seeking skilled Tool and Die Makers. Key Responsibilities

• Design and build new tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repair on existing tooling.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with production tooling to minimize downtime.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine tooling specifications.
• Operate a variety of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tooling components.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tooling performance.

Recommended Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or equivalent experience
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong understanding of machining processes, including milling, turning, grinding, and EDM
• Expertise in precision measurement tools and techniques
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam)
• Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machinery
• Certification or formal training in a specialized area (e.g., EDM, advanced welding, precision grinding)
• Ability to perform quality inspections using CMM or other advanced metrology tools
• Experience with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies
