Special Education Teacher in Arlington Heights, IL

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification
• Experience teaching or supporting elementary-aged students, particularly in a self-contained or resource classroom
• Strong knowledge of instructional techniques, behavioral interventions, and IEP implementation
• Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, general educators, and support staff
• Exceptional communication skills to engage effectively with students, families, and colleagues
• Dedication to fostering inclusive, positive learning environments

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and adapt lesson plans that address IEP goals and grade-level curriculum standards
• Deliver personalized instruction to meet diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
• Oversee classroom routines, manage behavior plans, and ensure student safety and engagement
• Assess and track student progress, maintaining accurate and timely records
• Collaborate with team members and parents to review and revise IEPs as needed
• Participate in school meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
