Your Team Housing Preservation & Development Technology (HPD Tech) is the IT division within HPD. The Office of HPD Tech leads the agency’s effort to transform HPD through technology by promoting productivity and eliminating manual processing, shrinking costs, and increasing the pace of work. HPD Tech works to improve effectiveness of business processes using core applications for flawless execution. HPD Tech empowers decision makers with access to quality (complete and accurate) information to anticipate and proactively react to building, neighborhood and market conditions. The Office of HPD Tech is composed of 9 units: CIO, Budget, Enterprise Architecture, Ideation, Infrastructure Network and Systems, Planning & Compliance, Product Area, Release & Service Management, and Security. Your Impact As the Assistant Cloud Administrator for the Division of HPD TECH, you will maintain the infrastructure and functionality of the Agency’s cloud environments utilized by Section8\HAS. You will assist clients in installing and troubleshooting access to cloud services, work with the Cloud Administrator to ensure continuous service availability, and manage all parts of the HPD cloud environments with a heavy focus on the Section 8 \ HAS Elite on AVD environment within Azure. Your Role Your role will be to assist the HPDTECH Cloud Administrator(s) in all day‑to‑day duties, including but not limited to the responsibilities and skills outlined. You will maintain the cloud environment, keep it up to date with all patches and configurations, and focus on cost savings and performance. You will troubleshoot at all levels, from cloud administration to AVD instances and end‑user issues. Your Responsibilities Provision resources and maintain the cloud environment by adding new servers or databases as needed. Examine performance metrics, identify, troubleshoot, and correct issues to ensure highest levels of performance. Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to communicate and resolve issues promptly. Manage security for cloud environments by monitoring access requests and reviewing security logs for suspicious activity. Maintain and upgrade existing cloud environment components and OS to ensure optimal performance and up to date patch levels. Manage Azure cloud resources, including creating virtual machines, scale‑sets, storage, storage accounts, virtual networks, databases, and other resources. Develop new features and functionality for existing systems while maintaining performance standards. Monitor system performance to ensure it meets business requirements and identify potential issues before they become problems, recommending solutions. Provide technical support for the cloud computing platform to internal customers who use the platform for their day‑to‑day work. Provide technical backend and end‑user support for Section8\HAS Elite Published app. Required Skills Ability to manage Azure cloud resources, including virtual machines, scale‑sets, storage, storage accounts, virtual networks, databases, and other resources. Ability to provision resources and maintain the cloud environment by adding new servers or databases. Ability to maintain and upgrade existing cloud environments and operating systems to ensure optimal performance and security patch levels. Ability to examine performance metrics and troubleshoot issues to ensure highest performance and availability. Ability to manage security for cloud environments by monitoring access requests and reviewing security logs for suspicious activity. Monitor system performance to ensure it meets business requirements, identifying potential issues before they become problems and recommending solutions. Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure timely communication and resolution of issues. Develop new features and functionality for existing systems while maintaining performance standards. Provide technical support for the cloud computing platform to internal customers who use the platform for their work. Understand, monitor, and support Section8\HAS Elite System on AVD on Azure environment. Preferred Skills Experience with Azure virtual desktop, O365, logs, CLI, and log analytics will be an added advantage. Authorization to Work Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position. Minimum Qualifications A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by twenty‑four (24) semester credits in computer science or a related field, and two (2) years of satisfactory full‑time software experience in designing, programming, debugging, maintaining, implementing, and enhancing computer software applications, systems programming, systems analysis and design, data communication software, or database design and programming, including one year in a project‑leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project; or A four‑year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six (6) years of full‑time satisfactory software experience as described above, including one year in a project‑leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project; or A satisfactory combination of education and experience that is equivalent to one of the above. College education may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience by equating sixty (60) semester credits from an accredited college to one year of experience. A master’s degree in computer science or a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. All candidates must have a four‑year high school diploma or equivalent, plus at least one (1) year of satisfactory full‑time software experience in a project‑leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project. NOTE: To have your experience accepted as Project Leader or Major Contributor experience, you must explain in detail how your experience qualifies you as a project leader or as a major contributor. Experience in computer operations, technical support, QA, hardware installation, help desk, or as an end user will not be accepted for meeting the minimum qualification requirements. Special Note To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level IV, in addition to the Qualification Requirements above, individuals must have one year of satisfactory experience in a project‑leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project in data administration, database management systems, operating systems, data communications systems, capacity planning, and/or online applications programming. 55a Program This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55‑a Program.
