Human Resources Generalist

Verda Health Plan of Texas is a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) plan. Position Overview The HR Generalist supports daily Human Resources operations, including compliance, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll support, HR policy enforcement, and recruitment. The role reports to the Associate Director of Human Resources. Responsibilities Conduct new hire onboarding and orientation. Maintain and update employee records and HRIS systems. Administer and track employee benefits programs. Assist with payroll processing. Monitor compliance with employment laws. Handle employee relations matters. Support performance management initiatives. Facilitate training and development programs. Conduct and manage background checks, drug screenings, and employment eligibility verifications. Develop and enforce HR policies and procedures. Promote employee engagement and recognition programs. Lead DEI initiatives. Assist with occupational health and safety compliance. Provide guidance on leave management. Support employer branding and recommend process improvements. Coordinate and provide desk coverage support for office management efforts. Provide recruiting assistance as needed. Perform additional HR‑related duties as assigned. Requirements Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field. 3–5+ years of HR experience in a generalist role, preferably in healthcare. 3+ years of HR experience AND a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or 5+ years of HR experience AND an Associate’s degree. Health plan insurance experience. At least 1 year of payroll processing experience. Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance. Proficiency in HRIS, ATS, and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. Effective time‑management skills. Experience with performance management, employee engagement, and training programs. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to work full time onsite Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Reliable transportation required.
