Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location: Norcross, GA
Industry: Heavy Civil / Highway Construction
Schedule: Full-Time, On-Site | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Salary: $175,000–$200,000 Base + Bonus + Benefits

Position Overview

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with extensive construction industry experience to lead our financial operations and support long-term growth. This executive will serve as a key member of the leadership team, providing financial insight, operational guidance, and strategic direction to help drive the company's continued success.

The ideal candidate will be a local professional with strong heavy civil/highway construction experience and a thorough understanding of labor, payroll, tax, and compliance requirements across the six states adjacent to Georgia where the company actively operates. Experience managing the financial complexities of multi-state construction operations is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting

• Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with company goals and growth initiatives

• Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive leadership team based on financial analysis and projections

• Oversee job costing, project accounting, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition for construction projects

• Manage banking relationships, financing strategies, and capital structure

• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, labor laws, payroll requirements, and industry-specific financial regulations across multiple states

• Lead risk management efforts, including contract review, insurance programs, bonding capacity, and financial controls

• Optimize financial systems, processes, and internal controls to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability

• Partner with operations leadership to monitor project performance, profitability, and financial risk

• Mentor, develop, and lead the accounting and finance team

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required (MBA and/or CPA preferred)

• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with a strong background in the construction industry required

• Significant experience within heavy civil, highway, infrastructure, site development, or related construction sectors strongly preferred

• Proven expertise in job costing, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project-based financial management

• Strong understanding of multi-state labor compliance, certified payroll, payroll tax requirements, and employment regulations, particularly within Georgia and surrounding southeastern states

• Experience supporting contractors, developers, or construction firms with operations across multiple states

• Strong knowledge of financial planning, forecasting, analysis, and strategic modeling

• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and executive decision-making skills

• Experience with ERP systems and construction accounting software such as Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, or similar platforms

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting multi-entity and multi-state construction operations

• Background in mergers and acquisitions, organizational growth, or private equity-backed environments

• Familiarity with bonding, lien laws, contract compliance, and construction-specific financial risk management

• Experience working with DOT, infrastructure, highway, transportation, or public works projects

• Base Salary: $175,000–$200,000
