Job Description Summary
The Lead Deterministic Safety Analysis (DSA) Engineer position will make immediate contributions to the team responsible for BWRX-300 deterministic safety analyses, while being technically mentored by a team of high performing engineers. The DSA team is responsible for performing safety analysis in support of various applications for BWRX-300 transient analyses, thermal hydraulic analyses, containment analysis, and stability analysis.
The individual will work within an energetic team environment to perform thermal-hydraulic and plant transient analyses to support a variety of applications encompassing BWRX-300 DSA. The position offers limitless opportunities to learn the fundamental bases of nuclear power plant operations and safety analysis by applying state-of-the-art thermal hydraulics methods to satisfy licensing requirements and solve real day-to-day plant problems. Additionally, this position has direct customer-facing opportunities through training, deliverables, and collaboration. The DSA team offers unique opportunities to create and/or improve cutting-edge automation and methods. Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $85,600.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus. This posting is expected to remain open for at least seven days after it was posted on September 25, 2026. Job Description Essential Responsibilities: As the Lead Deterministic Safety Analysis Engineer, you will:
- Lead a variety of projects including technical evaluations and analyses in the area of Anticipated Operational Occurrences, Anticipated Transients without Scram, Reactor Heat Balance, and Thermal Hydraulic Fuel Channel Analyses.
- Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas of Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses.
- Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas of BWR stability.
- Deliver products at a consistently high and sustainable level in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines.
- Utilize unique opportunities to create and/or improve cutting-edge automation and methods
- Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and calculations
- Perform technical verification of engineering technical deliverables
- Prepare, communicate, and present complex technical issues to internal and external customers and recommend solutions
- Perform in cross-disciplinary settings, engaged with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, or other affiliated organizations to find optimum customer solutions.
- Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.
- B.S. Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or similar).
- At least 4 years of relevant nuclear experience
- M.S. Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or similar).
- At least 2 years of relevant nuclear experience
- PHD in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or similar).
- This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
- The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters Wilmington, NC or the GEV Hub in Atlanta, GA.
- Master's degree in engineering; or Senior Reactor Operator Certification
- Experience with BWR core simulation and thermal-hydraulic systems codes.
- Experience with BWR Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses.
- Knowledge of BWR Systems and integrated plant response
- Knowledge of the fundamental principles of nuclear engineering such as nuclear physics, thermal hydraulics, and mechanical design, as applied to BWR
- Experience in two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques.
- Experience with standard engineering work planning and design process techniques
- Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements
- Experience with BWR/PWR T-H systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP & TRACE
- Experience in Best Estimate methodology development (e.g., TRACG)
- Experience with Containment codes such as GOTHIC
- Experience with Best Estimate and CSAU applications
- Programming experience such as C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON
