General Summary

As a Medical Assistant Trainee, you will provide essential patient care within your scope, demonstrating professionalism, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask efficiently. Your role includes direct patient interaction, vital sign collection, EKG administration, medication verification, and accurate documentation in patient charts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and assist with obtaining medical histories and chief complaints.
• Manage communication by routing phone messages and assisting with patient inquiries.
• Support physicians by handling test result calls, medication renewals, and authorizations.
• Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens as ordered.
• Schedule appointments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures efficiently.
• Maintain exam room supplies and assist in patient education regarding electronic health records.
• Help orient and train new medical assistants, fostering a collaborative team environment.

Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience

Previous experience in a medical clinic setting is preferred but not mandatory.

Certification/License

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required and will be provided through the training program.

Mental/Physical Requirements

This role demands considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, and various movements such as stooping and reaching.

Working Conditions

Expect regular exposure to infectious diseases and occasional encounters with challenging individuals. Minimal physical discomfort is anticipated.
