Job Opportunity – Neuroscience Intermediate Care Nurse – Virginia

Schedule: Night shift, 13-week assignment. 36 or 48-hour work weeks available. Every other weekend and every other holiday required (must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays). Up to 40 hours approved time off during contract. 1:3 patient ratio. 24-hour orientation provided.

Highlights:

• Specialize in neuroscience intermediate care on a 12-bed unit serving patients transitioning from Neuro ICU
• Manage diverse case mix including neuro trauma, craniotomies, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracerebral hemorrhage, spinal surgery, and ENT oncology reconstruction
• Work with Epic EMR in a collaborative environment with full interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations with neurological and neuromuscular disorders
• 13-week contract with structured scheduling and predictable patient ratios
• Comprehensive orientation and support for travel nurses in an academic medical environment

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience
• Active Virginia RN license (pending licenses accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with neuro stepdown, PCU/IMC patient populations preferred
• Proficiency in craniotomy care, CVA management, intracranial bleeds, post-neurosurgery care, and telemetry monitoring
• Skills in arterial line management, vasoactive drip management (no titration), insulin protocols, lumbar drains, and EVD preferred
• BSN preferred
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Willingness to float within scope of practice as needed
