As a Patient Access Representative in the Emergency Department, your responsibility is to deliver an exceptional experience to patients, families and visitors, from the moment they enter to the time they return home. In this role, you will assist patients with everything from registration, insurance eligibility and collecting co-payments to self-screening and scheduling services. This position provides a strong foundation to advance in your career within various departments at the Cleveland Clinic.A caregiver in this position works evening/night rotation from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with weekend and holiday rotation requirements.*Please note that if you are selected, you will need to attend a 2-week EPIC training starting on your first day. The training is Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on-site at Stow Health and Wellness Center. You will need to attend all days of this training. Once the training is complete, you will then start work on your assigned schedule/shift. To be considered for this role, you will need to acknowledge that you are able to attend the full duration of the training.*A caregiver who excels in this role will:Perform registration and obtain information about demographics, insurance, medical and financialCrosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED, and cash registerFunction as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers.Provide registration and cash collection access in EpicMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in a customer facing role OR an Associate's Degree and one year of experience OR a Bachelor's DegreeKnowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders OR completion of course within one yearBasic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systemsAbility to work confidently and efficiently in an emergency department settingPhysical Requirements:Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.The policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
