We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist for a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity with a construction company in San Diego, CA. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with recent construction accounts payable experience and a strong understanding of job costing, invoice coding, vendor payments, and project-related expenses.
The Accounts Payable Specialist will play an important role in keeping vendor payments accurate, organized, and on schedule. This is a strong opportunity to join a collaborative construction accounting team that values accuracy, accountability, communication, and long-term stability. Key Responsibilities - Process, code, and enter vendor invoices accurately, including general ledger accounts and job cost codes.- Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation while verifying accuracy, approvals, and completeness.
- Prepare vendor payments, process scheduled check runs, and maintain accurate vendor records.
- Reconcile vendor statements, research billing discrepancies, and communicate with vendors regarding invoices and payment status.
- Assist with monthly accounts payable reconciliations, closing procedures, reporting, and organized record maintenance.
- Provide backup accounts receivable support, including check posting and payment applications, when needed. Compensation and Benefits - Salary: $70,000 to $75,000 per year, DOE.
