Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager performs a broad range of professional HR functions in support of the Honolulu Museum of Art’s (HoMA) strategic human resources goals. This role serves as a key partner in advancing HR initiatives and ensuring effective and consistent HR practices across the organization. The Human Resources Manager supports daily HR operations and works closely with the Director of Human Resources on a variety of initiatives, including employee relations, employee engagement, special projects, and strategic HR programs. This position requires a resourceful, proactive, and detail-oriented professional who demonstrates sound judgment, a logical approach to problem‑solving, and the ability to manage responsibilities with consistency and reliability. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated. Five years of experience and working knowledge of principles, practices, techniques and methodologies in Human Resources Management. Two years of experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS. Working knowledge and understanding of federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with Human Resources Management. Experience in employee relations with the ability to resolve complex matters through reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause and the resolution in an effective, fair and timely manner. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and vendors. Ability to lead two direct reports, manage their work priorities and projects. Experience designing and implementing scalable processes and technology solutions to drive operational efficiency. Expert knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in the development and implementation of employee engagement activities and processes. Must uphold the highest level of ethical behavior and be fully committed to maintaining confidentiality; model the highest ethical standards within a diverse team environment. Desired Qualifications Previous role as a Human Resources Manager, with an aptitude or interest in visual arts and non‑profit. SHRM Certified Professional. Experience using ADP system. Understanding of Honolulu Museum of Art’s mission and values and dedication to advancing it. Traits of honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, and perspective; a very strong work ethic, supported by commitment and follow‑through. Essential Duties Oversees employment and talent management processes to ensure consistency and compliance. Leads and mentors two HR team members, supporting their development and awareness of current trends. Partners with the HR team to develop recruitment strategies that attract a talented and diverse candidate pool. Partners with the Director of Human Resources to design and implement programs that meet organizational needs, improve workforce effectiveness, and enhance the employee experience. Provides consultative support across HR functions, including talent acquisition, benefits administration, workers’ compensation, leave administration, job descriptions, FLSA classification, compensation, performance management, and employee relations. Conducts and supports investigations and fact‑finding activities, then compiles findings and prepares reports to support resolution. Supports performance management by coordinating evaluations, maintaining documentation, and assisting with training. Coordinates offboarding, including exit interviews and related processes. Manages HRIS operations, including ADP transactions, data integrity, compliance monitoring, and issue resolution. Leads annual open enrollment, including benefit fairs, system setup, employee communications, and documentation updates. Supports internal and external surveys, including salary benchmarking, and prepares compensation analyses and related reports. Performs other duties as assigned. Compensation The Honolulu Museum of Art is committed to practicing salary transparency. The range for this position is $85,000 per annum to $95,000 per annum . Pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting pay, including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity. Benefits Fully covered medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees. 12 paid holidays. 15 days of vacation accrued in the 1st year, increasing to 20 days in the 2nd year. 15 days of sick leave accrued annually. Working Conditions and Atmosphere Work takes place in an office environment. General office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with flexible scheduling as appropriate. Ability to operate general office equipment including computers, copiers, printers, etc. Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, up to 25 pounds of general office material or equipment.
