Accountant II – Financial Administration This position is responsible for the financial administration of the SAP Concur travel, expense and reimbursement platform for the Colorado Department of Public Safety (CDPS). The role includes travel program management, training, data compilation and analysis, auditing, policy development, and related financial reporting duties in accordance with GAAP and GASB. Classification and Salary Anticipated Hiring Range: $5,463 – $7,101/month; $65,556 – $85,212/year Full Salary Range: $5,463 – $8,741/month; $65,556 – $104,892/year Benefits Medical, dental, short‑ and long‑term disability, life insurance and other standard state benefits. Core business hours Mon‑Fri 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. About the Job The role encompasses applying accounting principles to financial reporting for CDPS. Requirements include working knowledge of state accounting, the CORE system, and advanced Excel skills. The accountant must be organized, detail‑oriented, and adept at communication and customer service. Responsibilities include creating financial reports, developing training materials, and managing day‑to‑day financial operations for Concur and FinQuery. Key Responsibilities Ensure accurate Concur data for eligible users, including role access, chart of accounts, and rates. Make decisions with delegated authority as needed for program success. Draft and deliver training curriculum via webinars, in‑person sessions, or other methods. Maintain accurate FinQuery data for eligible users. Provide assistance and guidance on program issues. Capture and analyze data regularly, recommend corrective actions, and monitor program activities. Prepare, interpret, and reconcile system reports for budgeting and reporting; conduct monthly, quarterly, semi‑annual, and annual reconciliations. Process year‑end activities including accruals, adjusting journal entries, ledger corrections, and data collection for closing exhibits. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Applicants must meet one of the following: Six years of relevant accounting experience, including at least one year of financial system administration. Combination of education (27 semester hours in accounting or auditing) and relevant experience totaling six years, plus one year of system administration experience (transcripts required). Current CPA license in Colorado, counting for six years of experience, plus one year of system administration experience (copy of license required). Conditions of Employment: background investigation with polygraph, fingerprinted criminal history search, reference checking; must be a Colorado resident at time of application. Appeal rights available per state personnel rules. Preferred Qualifications and Competencies Experience as SAP Concur system administrator. Experience in CORE or comparable financial systems.
