Strategic Commercial Finance Manager - Operations & Growth

Job Summary We are seeking a self‑motivated individual to join as a Commercial Operations Finance Manager. The role provides financial oversight for commercial projects and branches, partnering with field operations leaders to drive results, create disciplined processes, and act as an independent decision maker. Responsibilities Project and Branch Financial Oversight Collaborate and train project managers, sales reps, office managers, and field leadership on accurate job costing, project budgets, POC estimates, and revenue recognition. Analyze job cost reports, margin variance, and cost‑to‑complete estimates. Support ASC 606 revenue recognition oversight. Provide variance analysis and actionable insights to improve profitability. Forward‑Looking Targets & Metrics, Reporting & Analytics, and Driving Results Partner with operations to develop and track annual branch budgets, monthly forecasts, and forward‑looking metrics. Provide analytical insights during monthly financial close. Prepare management reports, dashboards, and executive presentations and recommend actions. Assist leadership in identifying actionable financial opportunities across the P&L. Partner with field leaders to drive operational results and execution of initiatives. Evaluate project viability using ROI and capital investment analysis. Support working capital management. Collaborate with finance on market and operational research. Support merger and acquisition activity. Perform ad hoc analysis and participate in special projects. Systems, Controls, and Process Improvement Drive process improvement and continuous training related to management of commercial project financials. Assist with monitoring key controls and providing coaching. Support external audits and deliver required documentation. Identify automation opportunities and collaborate on system efficiencies. Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s or CPA preferred. 3‑5 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Solid foundation in U.S. GAAP and experience with project‑based accounting and job costing. Advanced Excel and ERP experience (Oracle experience is a plus). Required Skills Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail, integrity, and professionalism. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Technical skills: advanced spreadsheets, Power BI, Alteryx, Smart Sheets, or other automation tools are strongly preferred. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Travel/Working Hours Requirements Travel: National; 30‑40%; flexibility for multiple time zones. Physical Requirements Typical office environment; may require standing, bending, lifting boxes under 10 lbs.
