About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred License: State RN license required Certifications: BLS Required; OCN Required Must-Have: Experience with oncology diagnoses and chemotherapeutic administration Description: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience. First-time travelers are accepted for this role. The patient population includes adults to geriatrics. The nurse will provide care for patients with oncology and hematology diagnoses. Knowledge of DNR/CC and oncologic emergencies is necessary. Occasional off-service duties may be required. The role includes adherence to chemotherapy precautions and management of morphine and dilaudid drips. Nurses will utilize pumps such as CADD, PCA, and others as needed. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:6, with an average daily census of 15 patients. Experience with the Epic charting system is required. Staffing and scheduling are self-scheduled. A maximum of 7 days of time off is allowed. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. The holiday work policy requires the nurse to work one major holiday if it falls within the assignment period. Appropriate documentation and compliance must be completed to start the position on time. All requirements must be finalized at the time of submission. Compliance with health and safety protocols is mandatory. The nurse will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams. Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy, monitoring patients, and providing care and management of central lines and implanted ports.
