QA Automation Engineer

QA Automation EngineerTrident Consulting is seeking a QA Automation Engineer for one of our clients in Tampa, FL (Onsite) for a 1 year contract with extension. The rate is $40/hr. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining automated test suites with a strong emphasis on UI automation using Selenium and/or Playwright, and BDD frameworks such as Cucumber. The candidate will build and execute automation scripts across web UI, API, and backend validation; ensure tests are reliable, maintainable, and scalable. They will define test strategy by decomposing business and technical requirements into test scenarios, test data needs, and contingency plans. The role also involves owning test planning and execution, defect management, reporting/status metrics, and release sign-offs. The candidate will validate REST services through functional, regression, and integration testing to ensure reliable, end-to-end coverage. They will also perform database testing in Oracle (SQL validation, data reconciliation, stored procedure outcomes as applicable), validate batch jobs and end-to-end workflows (scheduling, file/data handoffs, downstream impacts), and participate actively in Scrum ceremonies as the team's quality advocate; proactively identifying defects early in each sprint/iteration. The candidate will use and contribute to SDLC tooling such as Jira (test cycle management/defects), Git, and CI tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bitbucket pipelines).The top three skills required for this role are: automation framework enhancement skills, Playwright, Python, Cucumber BDD, Selenium, Java, Rest API, DB2 testing experience; utilization of test automation tools to enable efficient and timely E2E test execution, therefore previous experience of automated testing is required; and the ability to liaise effectively between lines of business with empathy and understanding to achieve the common and strategic goal as a team.Additional information: Agile team structure.
