Campus Behavioral Health Navigator

General Notes: Dell Medical School is seeking four Campus Behavioral Health Navigators. This position has an end date of 08/31/27 but may be renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward goals. Job Summary The Campus Behavioral Health Navigator supports access to behavioral health services for students and families by coordinating school‑based and virtual care activities, facilitating tele behavioral health appointments, and navigating patients through intake, referral, and follow‑up processes. The role serves as the primary non‑clinical point of contact between the health system and participating schools, ensuring operational alignment, documentation accuracy, and compliance with HIPAA, program standards, and applicable school district policies. Essential Job Functions Facilitate school‑based access to virtual behavioral health services: travel to schools, provide telehealth technology setup and troubleshooting, facilitate guardian participation, ensure HIPAA compliance, adjust support based on clinical volume and academic calendars. Serve as primary operational liaison with participating schools: coordinate scheduling and logistics, build and maintain relationships, communicate program workflows and updates. Support intake, documentation, and care coordination activities: gather demographic and consent documentation, assist with intake workflows, referral coordination, discharge support, and document protected health information accurately. Coordinate scheduling and appointment management: manage scheduling, rescheduling, and confirmation of virtual visits, collaborate with care coordinators and clinicians, communicate details to families and school partners, and address issues impacting access. Provide program and outreach support: cross‑coverage for related school‑based behavioral health initiatives, participate in outreach or engagement events, reinforce awareness of resources and care pathways. Identify issues and support continuous improvement: report concerns or barriers, assist in solution identification, participate in team meetings, training, and quality improvement activities. Other Job Duties (As Assigned) Assist with onboarding or informal training of new staff. Support special projects related to school‑based or tele behavioral health services. Participate in continuing education or compliance training as required. Adhere to internal controls and reporting structure. Integrity and Trust: knowledge of HIPAA, confidentiality, ethical boundaries, and escalation of concerns. Education & Experience Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health-related field or equivalent experience; 3+ years of experience in healthcare support, patient navigation, or school-based programming; proficiency with electronic systems (Google Suite, Trayt, Athena/Epic, Calendly). Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency; experience with payer or provider operational workflows; prior school-based experience; medical terminology knowledge; experience with inter‑organizational coordination. Licenses, Registrations or Certifications None required. Preferred: Certified Community Health Worker, Behavioral Health Navigator or Care Coordination certification, CPR/BLS if applicable. Salary $44,622 + depending on qualifications. Working Environment & Equipment Standard office equipment; repetitive keyboard and manual dexterity tasks; occasional weekend, overtime, and evening work.
