Exercise Physiologist (Part time) - Environmental Medicine

Job Description As a Mount Sinai Physiolab Exercise Physiologist, you will work with a team of registered dietitians and exercise physiologists to provide cutting‑edge metabolic assessments to a diverse patient group as the lab continues to grow under the Direction of Dr. Ryan Walker. You will utilize gold‑standard equipment and resources to administer metabolic and physiological testing, conduct exercise counseling, and generate reports to be shared with patients. We view the Mount Sinai Physiolab as a successful start‑up, with massive potential for growth and impact in the field of personalized and preventive medicine. Physiolab Exercise Physiologists are expected to contribute to efforts that enhance collaborations and partnerships in pursuit of lab promotion and growth in the NY area. The Physiolab Exercise Physiologist will also have the potential to become involved in clinical research, led by Dr. Walker, and other clinical research projects conducted at the Human Metabolism and Physiology Lab (HMPL); a core lab within the Translational Research Core at the NIH‑funded NY Diabetes Research Center. Qualifications Education Requirements Masters degree from an approved program in physical education, sports medicine, exercise physiology, exercise science, or physical therapy. Board certification by the American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP) is preferred. Experience Requirements Experience in aerobic teaching, and in working with obesity and associated diseases such as diabetes, arthritis, and apnea. Licensing and Certification Requirements (if applicable) Board certification by the American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP) is preferred. Preferred Skills Strong background in exercise science, physiology, or a related field and academic and/or work experience in clinical research. American College of Sports Medicine Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP–C), Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) highly preferred. Masters degree preferred. Highly preferred: CDR‑credentialed Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian‑Nutritionist (RDN) Ability to organize tasks and function independently Display positive and supportive attitude toward diverse participants Strong administrative, organizational, verbal communication, and multitasking skills Willing to learn and step outside of your comfort zone Desire to improve capabilities and expand skillsets Responsibilities Coordinate and assist with patient testing and procedures. Management of day‑to‑day activities including problem solving, communication, protocol management. Perform body composition assessment using BodPod technology. Perform resting metabolic assessment using metabolic cart and metabolic chamber technologies. Perform exercise metabolic assessment (FatMax, Submax, VO2max testing) using metabolic cart and metabolic chamber technologies. Review and develop a familiarity with the protocol(s). Collecting and analyzing data. Engage in individual lifestyle counseling with clients where appropriate (including corporate, “weekend warriors”, elite athletes and weight loss clients). Compensation Statement Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,661 – $81,675 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need.
