Bookkeeper | TRANSFIGURATION CATHOLIC CHURCH & SCHOOL The Tone: This is an in-person Bookkeeper role at Transfiguration Catholic Church & School. This position is vital for maintaining the financial health and operational integrity of the parish and school. The Bookkeeper supports the Business Administrator by ensuring all financial records are accurate, transactions are processed efficiently, and all financial activities comply with Archdiocesan policies and internal controls. This role directly contributes to the smooth functioning of the institution, allowing it to focus on its mission of faith and evangelization. The TL;DR Location: In-person, Transfiguration Catholic Church & School Team: Reports to the Business Administrator Mission: Owns the accuracy, compliance, and efficient processing of day-to‑day financial operations for the parish and school. Tech Stack: Microsoft products, email, internet-based programs, ParishSOFT What You’ll Actually Do Financial Records: Maintain precise and current financial records for both the parish and school. Transaction Processing: Execute daily financial transactions, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related activities. Financial Assistance: Aid in the reconciliation of accounts and the preparation of financial reports. Policy Compliance: Ensure all financial activities adhere to Archdiocesan accounting policies and established internal control procedures. Collaborative Support: Work cooperatively with staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and parishioners to implement the Pastor’s vision for evangelization. The Must-Haves Background: You are a practicing Catholic in good standing with a deep understanding and love for the Catholic faith and a commitment to the mission of Transfiguration. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience: You have two or more years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, or related financial functions. Skills: You possess strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft products, email, internet-based programs, and ParishSOFT. You are capable of managing multiple projects, thinking strategically, adapting your work in response to new information, and communicating positively and effectively with diverse groups. You also demonstrate a high level of initiative and flexibility in completing tasks. Bonus: Preferred qualifications include post-secondary coursework or training in bookkeeping, accounting, finance, or business administration, as well as prior experience working in a Catholic organization or similar environment.
