Technical Sales Engineer – Recycling Compaction Systems

Location: Bensenville, IL | Schedule: Monday–Friday | Employment: Direct Hire, Full-Time

Compensation: $85,000–$100,000 base salary plus bonus (salary negotiable for the right candidate)

A day in the role

Your morning starts in Bensenville with a quick sync on Microsoft Teams with our European headquarters to review current orders and technical inquiries. You open the CRM to track yesterday’s outreach, prepare a tailored proposal in the ERP for a new prospect, and then head out to a customer site to assess their de-watering and compaction needs. In the afternoon, you host a virtual demo, follow up on quotations, and plan travel for next week’s facility walk-throughs. Throughout, you’re the primary point of contact—guiding customers from first conversation through purchase order.

What you’ll work on

• Own the full sales cycle for screw compactors used to de-water and compact recyclable waste across North America
• Prospect and build pipeline through cold calls, video meetings, industry outreach, and meticulous follow-up
• Lead discovery to uncover operational challenges and translate requirements into technical solutions
• Draft quotations, configure solutions, and manage proposal follow-up within ERP
• Keep CRM data current—activities, contacts, opportunities, and forecasts
• Coordinate closely with our European HQ on engineering details and order processing
• Strengthen existing accounts while developing new business opportunities
• Represent the brand at trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events
• Travel up to 30% (passport required)

How you’ll succeed

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sales, or related field or 6+ years in industrial sales, engineering, or service
• Demonstrated B2B success with technical or industrial products and capital equipment
• Strong technical aptitude; ability to convert customer needs into practical solutions
• Comfort working independently with accountability for results
• Background in manufacturing, recycling, or industrial environments preferred
• Experience selling high-value technical solutions is a plus
• Skilled communicator who builds trust and long-term relationships
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CRM tools, and ERP platforms
• Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and self-driven
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

Work environment and physical aspects

• Lift, pull, move, and transport at least 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally
• Comfortable climbing and working at above-average heights
• Able to wear PPE at customer sites (steel-toe boots, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and/or respirators)
