The Sheet Metal Worker is responsible for fabricating and assembling sheet metal components by interpreting blueprints, work instructions, and engineering specifications to produce quality parts and finished products. This position performs layout, fitting, assembly, inspection, and finishing activities using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments while ensuring all work meets company quality standards and customer specifications. Location: 15 Forest Parkway, Shelton, Ct, 06484 Job Title: Sheet Metal Worker Reports to: Facilities Manager Type of Position: Full-time Part-time Contractor Intern Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications to fabricate and assemble sheet metal components and finished products. Measure, mark, fit, assemble, fasten, and inspect sheet metal parts using approved hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments. Verify completed work meets dimensional, quality, and customer specifications while identifying and reporting defects or discrepancies. Follow established production schedules and complete assigned work accurately and efficiently to support manufacturing objectives. Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other team members to resolve production issues and improve manufacturing processes. Maintain accurate production documentation as required and ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with company housekeeping standards. Follow all company policies, standard operating procedures, quality requirements, and workplace safety practices while properly using required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Perform additional production duties and special projects as assigned. Metrics/Accountability: Meet daily production schedules and productivity expectations. Maintain product quality and workmanship standards. Minimize defects, scrap, and rework. Ensure compliance with company quality standards and customer specifications. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area. Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity and manufacturing efficiency. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication, assembly, manufacturing, or a related production environment is preferred but not required. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and measuring devices is preferred. Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments is preferred. Candidates should possess strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment. Abilities/Skills Required: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and engineering drawings. Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Commitment to workplace safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Ability to lift, carry, bend, reach, and stand for extended periods throughout the workday. Work Environment / Environment Conditions: This position is based at Lex Innovations' facility located at 15 Forest Parkway, Shelton, CT 06484 . Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production activities, moving materials, noise, and industrial work areas. This position does not operate manufacturing equipment or fabrication machinery. Employees are required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, and any additional PPE required for specific work areas or assigned tasks. Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, reaching, and repetitive hand movements are required throughout the workday.
