This position provides support with different functions such as payroll and timekeeping, budgeting and financials, contract coordination, equipment and supply issuance and HR Liaison support.This position is a Variable Hour position. Variable Hour positions are at-will and hours are limited to twenty (20) hours per week averaged over a three (3) month period. These positions will accrue sick time and are not eligible for medical, dental, or vision benefits.Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):Knowledge of:Modern office practices and methods;Business English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation;Business report preparation techniques;Operational characteristics and applications of data processing equipment;Operation and maintenance of office equipment and machinery;Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations;Principles and procedures of financial recordkeeping and reporting; andBasic mathematical principles.Skills to:Provide timely, effective, and efficient customer service to the other employees; andInteract patiently with individuals making inquiries regarding various County programs and services who have little or no experience or knowledge of the services provided.Ability to:Process assigned work in an efficient manner and speed necessary for successful job performance;Communicate effectively, in English, both orally and in writing;Understand and carry out oral and written instructions;Apply applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and policies;Process assigned work in the Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent;Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals and groups, be an effective collaborator in a team-centered environment, and work effectively under general direction; andExercise keen time management skills, balance multiple priorities, and consistently meet timelines and due dates.To review the complete classification, including the full list of knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) associated with this position, use this link: Administrative Specialist II .Minimum Qualifications:Education and Experience:A high school diploma or equivalent; andThree (3) years of progressively responsible experience providing administrative or clerical support.Possession of Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) or other applicable certifications may substitute for up to one (1) year of the experience requirement.Additional Requirements:Selected candidate will be required to pass a post-offer drug screen.Background Check: The selected finalist(s) for this position must be able to pass a thorough background investigation conducted by the Sheriff's Office. The background Investigation for this position typically take 6-8 weeks to complete so you will want to plan accordingly. WCSO is the primary first responder for unincorporated residents, offering services from routine patrol and crime investigation to specialized teams.
