We are seeking a highly creative, experienced, and trend-focused Home Goods Product Designer & Developer specializing in Home Décor to join our team in New York City. The ideal candidate has a strong background in designing and developing successful home décor products and collections for major brands or retailers, an exceptional eye for design, and the ability to translate emerging trends into commercially successful products.

This is a fast-paced, highly creative environment where speed, strong visual aesthetics, and execution go hand in hand. We are looking for someone who can think creatively, move quickly, and consistently deliver fresh, compelling product designs without compromising quality or design integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Design & Development: Conceptualize, design, and develop innovative home décor products and collections from initial inspiration through production-ready designs.
• Collection Development: Create cohesive, commercially relevant collections across a variety of home décor categories, including decorative accessories, vases, planters, candleholders, decorative objects, wall décor, seasonal décor, and more.
• Trend Research & Forecasting: Identify, research, and interpret current and emerging trends in home décor, interiors, color, materials, finishes, patterns, and consumer preferences.
• Creative Direction: Develop compelling design concepts, mood boards, color palettes, material stories, and collection presentations that communicate a clear and elevated visual direction.
• AI-Assisted Design: Utilize AI-powered creative tools to accelerate concept development, generate product visualizations, explore design variations, and streamline the overall design process.
• Material & Construction Knowledge: Apply a strong understanding of materials, finishes, textures, manufacturing techniques, and product construction to develop aesthetically appealing and production-feasible designs.
• Design Versatility: Demonstrate the ability to design across multiple aesthetics, styles, price points, and retail markets while maintaining a strong commercial perspective.
• Product Specifications: Prepare detailed design files, product specifications, dimensions, color references, material selections, and other information needed for sampling and manufacturing.
• Sampling & Revisions: Collaborate with production teams and overseas factories to review samples, refine product details, and ensure designs are executed accurately.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with merchandising, sales, production, and management to develop collections that align with customer needs, retailer expectations, and business objectives.
• Fast-Paced Execution: Manage multiple collections and design projects simultaneously, delivering high-quality creative work under tight deadlines.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience, ideally 3–7+ years, designing and developing products specifically within the home décor industry.
• Proven experience creating successful home décor products or collections for major brands, national retailers, or established home goods companies.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating original product design, successful collection development, commercial relevance, and exceptional visual aesthetics.
• Demonstrated design range with the ability to work across different home décor styles, aesthetics, seasonal themes, and consumer markets.
• Strong understanding of current and emerging trends in home décor, interior design, color, materials, patterns, and finishes.
• In-depth knowledge of home décor materials such as ceramic, glass, wood, metal, resin, textiles, and other decorative materials, including their applications and manufacturing limitations.
• Experience taking product concepts from initial inspiration through design development, sampling, and production.
• Comfortable using AI tools as part of the creative design process , with an interest in leveraging emerging technologies to improve speed, efficiency, and creative output.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator, along with relevant design and visualization tools.
• Ability to create compelling product renderings, presentations, mood boards, and technical design specifications.
• Strong understanding of retail trends, competitive products, target customers, and commercial product development.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and overseas manufacturing partners.
• Existing relationships with factories and manufacturers in China are a plus, but not required .

We value designers who demonstrate versatility, originality, and an understanding of how different materials, colors, shapes, and finishes can elevate a product. A strong portfolio showcasing successful home décor collections, creative range, and experience working with established brands or retailers is essential.

Speed and creativity are equally important in this role. The right candidate thrives in a fast-moving environment, is comfortable working with AI and modern design tools, adapts quickly to changing creative direction, and can consistently produce high-quality work within demanding timelines.
