Dimensional & Coatings Quality Technician (Metal Stamping/Welding)Let’s get right to it—does this sound like you?Enjoy moving between stamping presses, weld cells, machining centers, and paint lines—measuring what matters?Confident calling a part good or bad using prints, GD&T, and the right gauges?Calm under pressure when a containment wall must go up fast—and thorough with the documentation behind it?What you’ll tackleBy process:Stamping/Forming/Laser — Inspect for splits, cracks, wrinkles, excessive burrs, die marks, distortion, springback, edge condition, flatness, bend angles, and dimensional variation.Welding — Check weld size, location, profile, porosity, undercut, spatter, burn‑through, cracks, distortion, fit-up, and workmanship.CNC Machining — Verify dimensions, hole sizes, thread quality, surface finish, and CTQ features.E‑Coat/Powder Coat — Validate coverage, dry film thickness, adhesion, cure, color, gloss, contamination, orange peel, craters, chips, bare spots, and runs with thickness gauges and visual standards.CMM — Operate CMM and execute established programs as required.Quality control: Perform receiving, first-piece/first-off, first article (FAI), in‑process, last-piece/last-off, final, rework, and containment inspections.Containment & problem-solving: Tag/segregate nonconforming material (NCRs), build containment, and support 5‑Why, Fishbone, Pareto, 8D, and CAPA activities.Records & traceability: Enter results into QMS/ERP, Excel logs, layout reports, and SPC; preserve full part and material traceability.Customer readiness: Support PPAP, APQP, control plan verification, and customer-specific documentation.Team enablement: Verify incoming raw materials against POs, drawings, and Certificates of Conformance; coach operators on defect ID, gauge use, inspection needs, and reaction plans; assist with IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 audits (internal, customer, layered).Must-havesHigh school diploma or GED (technical credential in manufacturing/quality/metrology/machining/welding preferred).At least 2 years in a manufacturing quality inspection role (automotive/metal fabrication/stamping/welding/machining/coating).Blueprint reading and GD&T (ASME Y14.5); work instructions and control plans.Hands-on with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, plug/thread/bore/go/no‑go gauges, and fixtures.Basic Excel and ERP/QMS data entry.Accuracy, attention to detail, and decisive pass/fail judgment under time pressure.Nice-to-havesCMM operation or program execution (PC‑DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, CMM Manager).Advanced metrology tools (FARO Arm, Hexagon arm, optical comparator, profilometer).Weld inspection training/certs (AWS, CWI, CAWI).Experience reviewing material certs and supplier inspection records.Perks401(k) with company matchMedical, dental, and vision insurancePaid company holidaysPaid Time Off (PTO) and vacationAbout IFAB CorpWe build metal fabricated components for the automotive industry and win by delivering consistent, specification-conforming parts.
