About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience; BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Description: Licensed for 457 beds. Level 3 Trauma center. Stroke Center of Excellence. Bariatric Center of Excellence. Chest Pain Center. Census averages 51 patients per day. Patient types include chronic diseases, CHF specialty area, mental health, addiction services, patients requiring 6 weeks of IV antibiotics, COPD, diabetes, wounds, and geriatric care. Patient ratios are typically 1:4-6, and may increase to 1:7-8 during surge times. Required skills include general Med/Tele skill set, cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips, care of patients with tubes/drains, IV start skills, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes. Support within the department includes Nurse Manager, Clinical Supervisors, staff RNs, CNAs, Clinical Mentors, Rapid Response RN, and House Supervisors. Technology and equipment used includes EMR and department-specific equipment such as scales, GBS machine, transfer devices, vein finders, EKGs, crash carts, language interpreters, telemedicine carts for online assessments, and Doppler devices. Travelers may be required to float within the region and scope of practice. Floating will be based on regional needs and may include additional facilities. Travelers will be paid for travel time between facilities if floating mid-shift. Scheduling includes weekend rotations every other week and holiday expectations require travelers to work 75% of holidays. Approved RTO is up to 6 days off, excluding holidays, with additional time added to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours. Shift times include 0700-1900 and 1900-0700, with schedules created in 6-week cycles. Department culture emphasizes teamwork and accountability.
