Make an impact by supporting students’ growth and independence in a contract position providing educationally related physical therapy services. This onsite opportunity offers valuable experience working at various grade levels, with a particular focus on transition-aged students (ages 20–22). The assignment spans from August 17th to November 4th and consists of a 37.5-hour work week.
Step into a dynamic school-based environment, collaborating with educators and other specialists to help students overcome challenges and thrive. This short-term leave coverage in the special education department emphasizes functional gross motor skill development and compensation strategies.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Illinois physical therapy license required
- Demonstrated pediatric expertise
- Previous school-based physical therapy experience essential
- Skill in supporting students with diverse motor needs
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative physical therapy services tailored to each student’s educational needs
- Develop and implement goals for improved gross motor skills and functional mobility
- Conduct assessments and document student progress
- Participate in IEP meetings, contributing insights on physical development
- Collaborate closely with teachers and special education staff for optimal student support
- Adapt interventions to benefit transition-aged students preparing for adulthood
