Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Telemetry / Progressive Care – Wisconsin

Start Date: November 9, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour evening/night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. Four 12-hour shifts per week accepted. Holiday coverage required including December 24th and 25th. Limited time off availability during the weeks of December 22nd through January 5th.

• Dual-unit assignment in IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units caring for telemetry oncology, cardiac, and thoracic surgery patients
• Diverse patient population including thoracic procedures (lobectomies, esophagectomies, decortications), cardiac surgery stepdown patients, and hospitalist patients
• Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• 3:1 patient ratio across all shifts with opportunities to develop advanced critical care skills
• Contract requires successful completion of telemetry testing with strict passing criteria prior to start

Requirements:

• Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in telemetry, progressive care, or stepdown specialty
• Required experience: Telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown nursing
• Required experience: Ventilator management and transplant patient care
• ICU or IMC and surgical post-operative experience required; Trauma Level II experience required, Trauma Level I preferred
• Thoracic surgery experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must pass telemetry examination prior to start date with 100% identification of lethal rhythms, perfect score on 3rd degree heart block questions, and minimum 80% overall passing score
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Willingness to float as needed between assigned units

Required Skills:

• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
• Central line, PICC line, and arterial line management
• Blood product administration and heparin protocols
• IV insulin protocols and titration of vasoactive and insulin drips
• Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Pre/post cardiac catheterization and cardiac surgery care
• Port access and management, wound care/wound vac
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases
• Starting and maintaining IVs, phlebotomy
