Job Qualifications

• Two years of full-service restaurant experience in a management position
• Working kitchen knowledge, including butchering and portion control
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations
• Working knowledge of POS/Micros systems and cash handling
• Understanding of food and labor cost control, inventory management, and purchasing
• Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures

Job Responsibilities

As the Sous Chef in Happy Valley, AZ, you will:

• Support the Executive Chef across all areas of kitchen operations
• Manage back-of-house team members, operations, and food production
• Coach, counsel, and provide feedback and direction to kitchen staff
• Oversee ordering and receiving for produce, seafood, and main food orders
• Conduct daily and biweekly inventory with the team
• Build and manage the back-of-house schedule
• Interview and hire back-of-house team members to maintain staffing goals
• Supervise and participate in butchering and portion control each shift
• Set the standard for quality food in a kitchen that stays neat, clean, and organized

Physical Requirements

• Able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language of the work location
• Reach, bend, push, and pull items for up to two hours each day
• Use fingers, hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively for up to six hours each day
• Stand and move at a steady pace for multiple hours at a time
• Maintain balance while bending, kneeling, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
