Business Development Researcher

Reports to: Chief Growth Officer Axoniq makes complex systems explainable, no rewrite required. In a world where regulators, auditors, and customers are increasingly asking "what happened, and why," we give companies a real answer, built on 14+ years of event-sourcing technology at the core of the Axon Framework. As AI becomes embedded in mission-critical business processes, trust is the bottleneck and we're the infrastructure layer that removes it. The Role We're looking for a scrappy, sharp Business Development Researcher to help us grow our pipeline and connect the right prospects to the right sales team members. This is a role for someone who's genuinely energized by the hunt, who can dig past a generic contact list to find the actual connection point that makes a cold conversation land, and who treats every "no" as a puzzle to solve rather than a dead end. You'll be the first conversation many prospects have with Axoniq, and your job is to find the people who have the problem we solve, get their attention, and get them on the calendar with our Account Executives. This role is remote but based in Austin, TX, and reports into our Go-To-Market leadership team. Compensation includes a variable component tied directly to qualified meetings booked, so the more effectively you prospect, the more you earn. What You'll Do Research and prospect into target accounts across enterprise and mid-market segments, identifying the people and problems that make Axoniq relevant to them right now. Run high-volume outbound outreach across email, phone, LinkedIn, and other channels — testing, iterating, and refining your approach based on what's actually working. Dig past the obvious contact to find the real connection point in an account: the trigger event, the pain point, the internal champion, or the reason "now" matters. Qualify inbound and outbound leads against clear criteria, and book qualified meetings for the Account Executive team. Collaborate closely with Sales and Marketing to sharpen messaging, share what you're hearing from prospects, and help the broader team understand what's resonating in the market. Keep meticulous records in our CRM (HubSpot), every touchpoint, every insight, every reason a deal is or isn't moving forward. Hit and exceed monthly and quarterly meeting-booked targets, with variable compensation tied directly to that output. What We're Looking For Scrappy and resourceful: you don't wait for the perfect list or the perfect script; you find a way in. A natural problem-solver who can connect the dots between a prospect's business situation and why Axoniq matters to them specifically, rather than relying on generic pitches. Comfortable in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and there isn't always a playbook already written for the situation in front of you. Strong written and verbal communication skills: you can make a cold email or cold call feel like it was written for one person, not a list of a thousand. Coachable and metrics-driven: you want to know your numbers, understand what's working, and adjust quickly. Prior BDR/SDR experience is a plus, but we care more about grit, curiosity, and your ability to figure things out than a specific number of years in the seat.
