Lead a Classroom That's Actually Built to Support You - Special Education Teacher, Providence, RI ($60K-$90,738)

Location: Providence, RI (East Side, near Hope Street)

Employment Type: Permanent

Salary: $60,000-$90,738 annually (based on education and experience)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:15 AM-3:30 PM (Tuesdays until 4:15 PM)

Audience: Experienced SPED teachers burned out by large caseloads, thin support, and inadequate staffing.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate individualized student programs for a class of nine transition-age students (13-19) with disabilities.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and instructional plans throughout the school day.
• Design and oversee daily structured programming that promotes growth, communication, and independence.
• Develop meaningful weekly Community Learning Experiences (CLEs) aligned with individual student goals and transition outcomes.
• Coordinate and support six Behavior Specialists in the classroom; collaborate closely with an onsite BCBA, OT, and SLP.
• Ensure accurate, timely completion of student and staff documentation.

Qualifications

• Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) certification in Severe/Profound Special Education required. Emergency certifications considered.
• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
• At least one year of experience as a special education teacher preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification required (training provided if needed).
• Safety Care Training required (training provided if needed).

Skills

• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and monitor IEPs and coordinate a multidisciplinary support team.
• Genuine passion for supporting students with complex learning and behavioral needs.

Physical / Environmental Requirements

• Ability to actively engage in a specialized classroom environment with students who may have complex behavioral needs.
• Safety Care trained or willing to complete training prior to start.
