Bilingual Associate Immigration Attorney

Wilkes Legal, LLC, a dynamic law firm located in Takoma Park, MD, has an immediate opening for a Bilingual (Spanish-English) Associate Immigration Attorney.The Associate will work on a wide variety of removal, family, and humanitarian-based immigration matters, as well as federal litigation. Cases include, but are not limited to, asylum, cancellation of removal, federal litigation (habeas, mandamus, FOIA, etc.), Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), family petitions, adjustment of status, consular processing, inadmissibility waivers, naturalization, VAWA petitions, and T & U Visas.The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the field of immigration law and will be licensed to practice in Maryland or Washington, D.C. at the time of application. The candidate must also be fluent in both oral and written Spanish (French a plus). As this is a hybrid position, the Associate will be expected to work on site at least two days per week. RESPONSIBILITIES Represent clients before U.S. Immigration Courts, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement Represent clients before Federal District Courts in habeas, mandamus, FOIA and other matters Represent clients before the Maryland and D.C. courts in Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) matters Meet with clients to draft declarations, assist in gathering evidence, and prepare for court hearings and USCIS interviews Perform legal research and draft legal pleadings, motions, memos, and briefs QUALIFICATIONS Compassion for clients from all walks of life, including survivors of trauma Experience litigating before U.S. Immigration Courts Superior legal research and writing skills Flexibility and willingness to be a team player 1-3 years of experience in the field of immigration law Current license to practice law in Maryland or Washington, D.C. Admission in the Federal District Court of Maryland, D.C., or the Eastern District of VA, or immediate eligibility for admission, is a plus. Bilingual in Spanish & English. French is a plus.
