Work Environment

This role is based onsite at our hospital facility, which features a range of departments including emergency, outpatient services, and specialty care. The Physician Assistant will work Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 7 PM, collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff in a supportive atmosphere focused on patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient histories and physical examinations to assess the health status of patients.
• Diagnose and treat a variety of acute and chronic illnesses and injuries, ensuring evidence-based practices are followed.
• Construct, implement, and monitor comprehensive and individualized patient care plans in collaboration with physicians and nursing staff.
• Order and analyze diagnostic tests such as lab work and imaging studies to inform clinical decision-making.
• Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions in line with established protocols and patient needs.
• Document all patient encounters in the electronic health record (EHR) system, maintaining accurate and detailed records of patient progress.
• Assist in formulating and executing departmental policies and procedures to enhance service delivery and operational efficiencies.
• Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives aimed at elevating the standard of care provided to our patients.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The physician assistant will primarily serve a diverse patient population, ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, with various medical needs. This role requires sensitivity to the unique circumstances of each patient, ensuring that culturally competent care is provided to everyone, regardless of background.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited institution is required.
• National Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is mandatory.
• A valid license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Maryland is required.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience as a Physician Assistant.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster strong relationships with patients and team members.
• Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems is crucial for efficient patient management.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a hospital or acute care setting is highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits
